A truth to carry
With more time to remember, old injuries can replay with fresh intensity. Forgiveness is not calling wrong right, forgetting what happened, or pretending trust has been repaired. It is releasing the right to personal vengeance and placing judgment in God's hands. This release may need to be repeated. Feelings often follow obedience slowly. You can forgive while maintaining firm boundaries, declining contact, or seeking legal, pastoral, or clinical support when harm is serious. Reconciliation requires safety, truth, repentance, and rebuilt trust; forgiveness alone does not create those conditions. Christ's grace frees you from carrying the offender's debt as your daily identity.
