A truth to carry

Many people enter retirement carrying a tiredness they could not feel while work kept moving. When weariness finally surfaces, it is easy to call yourself lazy or ungrateful. Yet God places rest beside returning, quietness, confidence, and strength. In His economy, rest can be an act of trust. Rest says, "My worth will not collapse because I stop." It allows the body and spirit to tell the truth about what the former pace required. This does not mean every day must be inactive. It means activity no longer has to prove that your life matters. Let God teach you a rhythm in which work grows out of communion rather than fear. A rested heart can hear what an exhausted heart keeps missing.
