A truth to carry
Busyness can postpone grief without healing it. Retirement may uncover sorrow from a death, a betrayal, a missed dream, a painful workplace, or years spent caring for everyone except yourself. The return of that pain does not mean you are moving backward. It may mean your heart finally has enough space to tell the truth. God draws near to the brokenhearted. He does not demand a quick recovery or a more cheerful testimony. Bring Him the actual wound, not the version you think a faithful person should have overcome. Prayer can be joined by wise support from a pastor, counselor, doctor, grief group, or trusted friend. Receiving help is not a failure of faith. It can be one way God's nearness takes form.
