A truth to carry
Addiction and shame can leave deep fears of abandonment. Perhaps people stepped away because they needed safety. Perhaps promises of support were broken. Perhaps you learned early that love could be withdrawn when you became inconvenient. Even necessary boundaries can awaken an old terror: If they cannot stay near me, God will leave too. Through Isaiah, God speaks to people who believed they had been forsaken. He reaches for one of the strongest human images of attachment and then says His remembrance is stronger still. This does not mean every relationship will be restored or every consequence removed. It means human distance cannot become proof of divine absence. Being remembered by God is more than being kept in a file. Biblical remembrance moves toward care. God holds your name, your need, your responsibility, and your future in faithful attention. He does not confuse what you did with all that you are. He does not become distracted by someone easier to love. He does not discover a hidden chapter and reconsider His mercy. You may find that difficult to receive. Shame often feels safer than love because shame is familiar and controllable. If you sentence yourself first, no one can surprise you with judgment. If you refuse hope, disappointment cannot take it away. Yet self-rejection does not repair the past. It only extends the reach of harm into the present. Receiving God's remembrance can look practical. It may mean eating a nourishing meal because your body is not disposable. It may mean keeping an appointment, taking prescribed medication properly, attending a meeting, blocking a dangerous contact, or resting before exhaustion weakens your judgment. Care becomes one way of agreeing with God: I have not been forgotten, so I will not abandon myself today. Other people may need time to believe your change. Let them have that time. Their caution is not the measure of your worth, and your worth does not cancel their need for safety. You can respect both truths. God remembers you while trust is rebuilt. He stays near while consequences unfold. His compassion is not a reward for becoming easy to love. It is the ground from which a different life can grow.
