A truth to carry

When you have wandered, being found can sound frightening. Discovery once meant exposure, confrontation, or consequences. You learned to avoid the call, hide the evidence, and stay ahead of anyone who might see the truth. Even now, the idea of God searching for you may awaken the fear of being caught. Ezekiel offers a different picture. God searches because neglected sheep need a true shepherd. His seeking is not the pursuit of a detective collecting charges. It is the movement of care toward someone scattered, vulnerable, and unable to find the way alone. He comes looking because you matter, not because you are easy to manage. There are forms of being found that recovery requires. A hidden pattern is named. A trusted person notices withdrawal. A test result tells the truth. A counselor connects a present reaction to an old wound. These moments may feel uncomfortable, but discomfort is not the same as condemnation. Sometimes grace finds you by interrupting the story you were using to stay lost. You may be tempted to disappear when you disappoint yourself. A lapse, lie, angry outburst, or secret thought can trigger the old command: Run before anyone knows. The Shepherd's voice says, Come into the open before this becomes a road. Immediate honesty can keep a stumble from becoming a return to the life you left. Being sought does not remove your agency. God will not force you to accept every offered help, and wise discernment still matters. But you can practice becoming findable. Keep appointments. Answer the safe call. Tell someone when isolation increases. Let people know the warning signs that mean you need support. Build pathways along which care can reach you. You are not only the person who wandered. You are the person the Shepherd values enough to seek. Let that truth reshape the mirror. The story is not merely that you became lost; it is that divine love moved toward you and continues to move toward every place where fear tries to scatter you again.
