A truth to carry

Illness can separate you from familiar places. Worship may happen through a screen. Invitations become difficult to accept. Friends may not know how to adjust, and you may not have the strength to teach them. Isolation can slowly suggest that you have wandered beyond everyone's reach. God describes Himself as the Shepherd who searches. The emphasis is tender and strong: "I, even I." He does not outsource the care of His sheep or wait passively for the weary to find their way back. He moves toward those who are scattered. Perhaps you have felt spiritually scattered - unable to keep routines, attend gatherings, or concentrate in prayer. Your changed participation does not cancel your belonging. The Shepherd knows how to find people in quiet rooms, infusion chairs, parked cars after appointments, and beds where sleep will not come. No location is outside His pasture. Being sought by God can also restore courage for human connection. You may need to tell a faith community what accessible care would look like. You may need to ask a friend for a shorter visit, a text instead of a call, or help with a practical task. Connection does not have to look the way it once did to be real. Let others meet you where you are when they are willing and safe. And where people have failed you, do not let their limitations define God's pursuit. You remain someone He actively seeks, carries, and calls His own. Loneliness is a painful condition; it is not your identity or your final location.
