A truth to carry
There are moments when your flesh and heart feel as though they are failing. The body is tired. The emotions are strained. The mind is worn thin from trying to keep watch. Psalm 73 does not hide this weakness. It names it plainly, then speaks an even deeper truth: God is the strength of the heart. Calling God your portion means that He is your deepest inheritance and security. It does not mean you stop valuing people, health, work, or a stable future. It means none of those good things were meant to carry the weight of being your ultimate source of safety. They can change. God remains. Anxiety often says, “If I lose this, I will not be okay.” The psalmist answers, “God is my portion for ever.” That answer does not make loss painless. It gives the heart a foundation that loss cannot finally remove. Even when your emotional strength feels low, God’s strength is not. Praise is the practice of returning to that foundation. You say, “Lord, You are enough for this moment,” not because you have no needs, but because you are learning where those needs can rest. God is not offended by your weakness. He meets you in it. Today, allow yourself to be human. Your flesh and heart may feel tired. You do not have to become your own strength. Let God be the portion that holds you when every other resource feels uncertain.
