A truth to carry

Hope can feel risky when you have been disappointed. You may protect yourself by expecting the worst, believing that pessimism will soften the blow. But fear does not actually make pain easier. It only asks you to suffer ahead of time. Paul calls God the “God of hope.” Hope is not merely a personality trait or a prediction that everything will work out as you want. It is a gift that grows through the power of the Holy Ghost. God can fill a person with joy and peace in believing even while the future remains uncertain. To abound in hope does not mean you ignore reality. It means reality is no longer limited to what anxiety can forecast. God is still working. Help is still possible. Meaning can still grow. You can take wise action and leave room for grace beyond what you currently see. Praise creates breathing room for hope. It turns the mind from relentless prediction toward God’s ability. When you bless His name, you remember that the future is not held by your fear. It is held by the God whose power can bring life where you only see limits. You do not have to manufacture a large hope today. Ask for enough hope to breathe, enough peace to choose the next faithful thing, and enough joy to remember that your story is not finished.
