A truth to carry
We often imagine that we come to God only after we have gathered ourselves. Psalm 100 offers a different doorway: thanksgiving. Not polished prayer. Not emotional perfection. Thanksgiving. You can enter God’s presence by noticing one gift and blessing His name for it. This does not mean you must be grateful *for* anxiety or call difficult experiences good. You can be honest about what hurts and still thank God for the mercies that keep reaching you. You can thank Him for breath, shelter, a person who listens, strength for a task, a verse that steadies you, or the fact that you came back to prayer after drifting. Thanksgiving changes the posture of attention. Anxiety scans for what is missing or threatened. Gratitude notices what is present. Neither posture tells the whole story by itself. But gratitude returns you to reality that fear has overlooked: God has not stopped giving good gifts. You do not need a long list. One sincere thank-you can become a gate. As you say it, notice what happens in your body and mind. The problem may still be there. Yet something in you has remembered that God is also there. That remembrance is worship. Enter today with what you have. If all you can say is, “Thank You for staying with me,” let that be enough. God welcomes a grateful whisper.
