A truth to carry
Anxiety can make joy feel irresponsible. If you are facing something uncertain, you may feel that staying alert is the only sensible posture. You may postpone delight until the future is secured. But God does not ask you to wait for a painless life before you receive the goodness of His presence. The psalmist calls God’s presence the place of “fulness of joy.” That does not mean every emotion becomes bright. Joy is deeper than a momentary mood. It is the settled goodness of being with the God who gives life, direction, and belonging. You can grieve and still receive joy. You can have unanswered questions and still notice that God is near. Praise opens the door to this kind of noticing. It slows you enough to see the path of life in front of you rather than the imagined roads you fear. Perhaps the path today includes work, rest, a difficult conversation, a doctor’s appointment, a meal with someone you love, or a quiet hour. The path may not look dramatic, but God is in it. You do not have to force yourself to feel happy. Instead, give yourself permission to receive one honest pleasure without asking it to solve everything. A song, sunlight, a warm drink, a child’s laugh, a familiar verse, or a moment of quiet can become an occasion for praise. These small gifts are not proof that pain is unreal. They are reminders that pain is not the only reality. God does not shame you for needing joy. He offers His presence as its deepest source. Let your heart receive what is good today without feeling guilty for it.
