A truth to carry

The world often offers peace as a transaction: if conditions improve, if people behave, if the numbers look right, if no new problem appears, then you may relax. Jesus offers another kind of peace. It comes from Him. It is not dependent on the world’s ability to remain predictable. This does not mean Jesus is indifferent to what troubles you. He speaks these words to disciples who will soon face confusion and grief. His peace is not shallow reassurance. It is His own presence offered to hearts that have real reason to feel unsettled. You may be tempted to think peace means never feeling a surge of anxiety. But Christ’s peace can meet you inside the surge. It can remind you to breathe, to ask for help, to separate facts from fears, and to come back to the present. It can hold you while your emotions catch up to what your faith already knows. Receive the phrase “my peace I give unto you” as a gift, not a command to perform. You do not earn it by being composed. You welcome it by turning toward the Giver. Praise becomes one way of receiving: “Jesus, Your peace is different from the certainty I have been chasing.” Your heart may still be troubled today. Bring it to Jesus without apology. His peace is not fragile, and His presence is not withdrawn because you are afraid.
