A truth to carry
There are days when faith does not sound like a confident declaration. It sounds like the father in this passage: belief and uncertainty in the same sentence, spoken through tears. He does not hide the divided condition of his heart. He brings all of it to Jesus. Chronic illness can create that same tension. You may believe God is good and still wonder why relief has not come. You may trust Him and dread the next test result. You may pray with hope one morning and feel almost empty by afternoon. Those changes do not make you a false believer. They make you a human being carrying more than anyone was designed to carry alone. Notice what the father asks. He does not say, "Wait until I become certain." He asks Jesus to help him where faith is thin. That is grace. Christ is not intimidated by the part of you that trembles. Your weakness can become an encounter with divine strength because it brings you to the end of pretending that you can sustain yourself. Today, faith may look like taking prescribed medicine, keeping an appointment, letting someone bring a meal, or whispering the name of Jesus while pain interrupts every other thought. Do not measure trust only by how brave you feel. Measure it by the direction you turn. A tired voice aimed toward Christ is still prayer. A trembling hand reaching for Him is still faith. Joy can begin here - not as excitement about suffering, but as relief that you do not have to carry a perfect heart into the presence of a compassionate Savior.
